How to Display top Processes Results and Sort by Memory

As an operating system runs various programs and applications, it allocates memory to them. Over time, the amount of memory allocated to these processes can accumulate and affect the overall performance of your computer. To optimize your system’s performance, it’s essential to monitor the processes running on your system and allocate memory to them accordingly.

One way to monitor the running processes on your system is to display them and sort them by memory. Doing so helps you identify and manage the most memory-intensive programs and applications.

Here’s how to display top processes results and sort them by memory:

Step 1: Open the Task Manager

To display the top processes results, you need to open the Task Manager. You can open the Task Manager by right-clicking on the taskbar and selecting the Task Manager option from the context menu. Alternatively, you can press the Ctrl + Shift + Esc keys together to open the Task Manager.

Step 2: Navigate to the Processes Tab

Once you’ve opened the Task Manager, navigate to the Processes tab. Here, you can view all the processes running on your system.

Step 3: Sort by Memory

To sort the processes by memory usage, click the “Memory” column header. This action will arrange the processes based on the amount of memory used. The process that uses the most memory will appear at the top of the list, while the process that uses the least memory will appear at the bottom.

Step 4: Adjust the View Options

The Task Manager provides different views of the running processes. To optimize your view, navigate to the “View” menu at the top of the Task Manager window. Here, you can adjust the columns displayed and choose the sorting order of the processes.

Step 5: Analyze the Results and Optimize Memory Allocation

Now that you’ve sorted the processes by memory usage, you can analyze the results and optimize memory allocation. If a process is using too much memory, you can close it or reduce the amount of memory allocated to it. Alternatively, if a process is critical to your system’s operation, you can allocate more memory to it.

In conclusion, monitoring the running processes on your system is essential to optimize your computer’s performance. By displaying the top processes results and sorting them by memory, you can identify and manage the most memory-intensive programs and applications. With this information, you can optimize memory allocation and improve your system’s performance.
