How to Disable Google Assistant on Android
Google Assistant is a virtual assistant powered by artificial intelligence that helps you with tasks and queries. But, some users prefer not to have Google Assistant enabled on their Android device for various reasons like privacy concerns, accidental triggering, or simple dislike of the feature. If you are one of those users, read on to learn how to disable Google Assistant on your Android device.
Method 1: Turn off Google Assistant from Settings
1. Open the Settings app on your Android device.
2. Scroll down and tap on “Google” or “Google Services & preferences”.
3. Under the Services section, tap on “Search, Assistant & Voice”.
4. Tap on “Google Assistant”.
5. Tap on “Assistant”.
6. Toggle off the button next to “Google Assistant”.
This method will completely turn off Google Assistant on your device, and you won’t be able to use it until you turn it back on.
Method 2: Change the Google Assistant launch method
If you don’t want to completely turn off Google Assistant, you can change the launch method so that it’s not accidentally triggered.
1. Open the Settings app on your Android device.
2. Scroll down and tap on “Apps & notifications”.
3. Tap on “Assistant”.
4. Tap on “Assist & voice input”.
5. Tap on “Assist app”.
6. Select None from the list of available apps.
This method will stop Google Assistant from launching when you press and hold the home button, but you can still access it by saying “Hey Google” or “OK Google”.
Method 3: Remove Google Assistant from the home screen
If you don’t want to use Google Assistant, you can remove it from the home screen so that it’s not visible.
1. Long-press on the Google Assistant icon on your home screen.
2. Drag the icon to the top of the screen where it says “Remove”.
3. Release the icon to remove it from the home screen.
Note that this method will only remove the Google Assistant icon from the home screen and not disable the feature altogether.
