How to Clear Cache and Cookies on Your Mac

It’s important to clear your cache and cookies regularly to keep your Mac running smoothly. Not only does this help speed up your computer and free up storage space, it can also prevent glitches and other technical issues from occurring. But what exactly are cache and cookies, and how do you clear them on your Mac?

Cache refers to temporary files that are stored on your computer every time you visit a website or use an app. These files help speed up the loading time of web pages and apps by storing data about your previous activities. Cookies, on the other hand, are small text files that contain information about your browsing habits and preferences.

While cache and cookies can be useful, they also take up valuable space on your computer and can cause issues if they become corrupted or outdated. Here’s how to clear them on your Mac:

1. Open the Safari browser.
2. Click on the “Safari” menu in the top left corner of the screen.
3. Select “Preferences” from the dropdown menu.
4. Click on the “Privacy” tab.
5. Click on “Manage Website Data”.
6. In the new window that appears, click “Remove All” to delete all cache and cookie data. Alternatively, you can select individual websites and click “Remove” to only delete data from specific sites.
7. Confirm that you want to delete the data by clicking “Remove Now”.

If you use a different web browser, the steps to clear cache and cookies may be slightly different. However, the general process should be similar to the above steps. Look for a “Clear History” or “Clear Cache” option in your browser settings, and follow the instructions provided.

Clearing your cache and cookies regularly can help keep your Mac running smoothly and prevent technical issues from arising. It’s a quick and easy process that can be done in just a few clicks, so don’t hesitate to give it a try.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
