If you’re curious about what hardware is inside your computer or need to check if a certain program can run on it, checking your computer specs is an easy task. In this article, we’ll guide you through three ways to check your computer specs on Windows and macOS.

Method 1: Using System Information on Windows

Windows has a built-in tool called System Information that displays detailed information about your computer’s hardware and software. Here’s how you can access it:

1. Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
2. Type “msinfo32” (without the quotes) and click OK.
3. The System Information window will appear, displaying your computer’s specifications.

You can view information such as your processor, RAM, graphics card, and more.

Method 2: Using the DirectX Diagnostic Tool on Windows

If you want to check more detailed information about your graphics card and sound card on your Windows computer, you can use the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. Here’s how:

1. Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
2. Type “dxdiag” (without the quotes) and click OK.
3. The DirectX Diagnostic Tool window will appear, displaying information about your computer’s hardware and software.

You can view detailed information about your graphics card, sound card, and other hardware components.

Method 3: Using the About This Mac on Mac

On macOS, Apple has the About This Mac tool that displays your computer’s specifications. Here’s how you can access it:

1. Click the Apple icon in the top-left corner of the screen.
2. Click About This Mac.
3. The About This Mac window will appear, displaying information about your computer’s specifications.

You can view information about your processor, memory, graphics, and more.

In conclusion, checking your computer specs is an easy task that can help you understand what hardware is inside your computer or if a program can run on it. We hope this guide helps you check your computer specs hassle-free.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
