Changing the name of your Mac is a simple process that can be done in just a few steps. This can come in handy when you purchase a used Mac, or if you simply want to give your computer a new name to reflect your personality or brand. In this article, we will outline the steps necessary to change the name of your Mac.

Step 1: Open the System Preferences

The first step in changing the name of your Mac is to open the System Preferences. You can do this by clicking on the Apple icon in the top left corner of your screen and selecting “System Preferences” from the drop-down menu.

Step 2: Click on “Sharing”

Once you have opened up the System Preferences, you will see several options to choose from. Select the option labeled “Sharing.” This will bring up a window that displays the current name of your Mac.

Step 3: Change the Name of Your Mac

In the “Sharing” window, you will see a text box labeled “Computer Name.” This is where you can change the name of your Mac. Simply type in the new name that you want to give your computer. Make sure that the name you choose is not already in use on your network.

Step 4: Save Changes

Once you have entered the new name, click the “OK” button to save your changes. You will then be asked if you want to apply the new name to all of the sharing services on your Mac. Select “Yes” to apply the new name to everything.

Step 5: Restart Your Mac

Once you have made the changes, you will need to restart your Mac in order for the new name to take effect. To do this, click on the Apple icon in the top left corner of your screen and select “Restart” from the drop-down menu.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
