How to Change HTML Font Size in CSS

When creating a website, it’s important to consider the font size in order to make sure visitors can easily read the content. HTML provides a few ways to set the font size, but it can be easier and more efficient to use CSS to change the font size. Here’s how to change the font size in CSS:

  1. Select the element

First, you need to select the HTML element that you want to change the font size for. This is done using CSS selectors. For example, if you want to change the font size for all paragraphs on the page, you would use the selector ‘p’. If you want to change the font size for a specific paragraph with a class of ‘my-paragraph’, you would use the selector ‘.my-paragraph’.

  1. Set the font size property

Once you have selected the element, you can set the font size property using the ‘font-size’ property in CSS. You can set the font size in a few different ways:

– Pixels: This is the most common way to set the font size. Use the ‘px’ unit to specify the size in pixels. For example, ‘font-size: 16px;’ sets the font size to 16 pixels.

– Em: The ’em’ unit is a relative unit that is based on the font size of the parent element. For example, if the parent element has a font size of 12 pixels, ‘font-size: 1.5em;’ sets the font size to 18 pixels.

– Percentage: The ‘percentage’ unit is also relative to the parent element, but it is based on the parent’s font size. For example, ‘font-size: 150%;’ sets the font size to 150% of the parent element’s font size.

  1. Apply the CSS

Once you have set the font size, you need to apply the CSS to the HTML element. This can be done inline using the ‘style’ attribute, or it can be done in an external CSS file. For example, to set the font size of all paragraphs to 16 pixels, you would use:

“`

p {

font-size: 16px;

}

“`

To set the font size of a specific paragraph with a class of ‘my-paragraph’, you would use:

“`

.my-paragraph {

font-size: 16px;

}

“`
