How to Block YouTube Channels From Appearing in Your Feed

As YouTube has become a ubiquitous source for online video content, it has also become an essential tool for finding and subscribing to specific channels. However, with so much content available, it is easy to find yourself overwhelmed by your subscriptions and recommendations. Fortunately, there are ways to control your YouTube feed and block channels from appearing in it.

One of the most straightforward ways to block channels on YouTube is to use the built-in feature that allows you to pause or remove a specific channel. To pause a channel, you simply need to navigate to one of its videos and select the “pause” option directly underneath it. This will prevent any future videos from that channel from appearing in your feed.

Another option is to remove a channel entirely from your feed. To do this, first, navigate to your subscriptions list by clicking on your profile picture in the top right corner of the YouTube screen. From there, you can view all the channels you currently subscribe to.

To remove a channel, hover your mouse over the channel name and click the “x” that appears on the right-hand side. You can also use this method to remove multiple channels simultaneously, which can save a lot of time if you have many subscriptions.

If you have blocked a channel but it continues to appear in your feed, you may need to adjust your notification settings. From your subscriptions list, click on the bell icon next to the channel name to select which types of notifications you receive for that channel.

If you find yourself constantly being recommended videos from channels you don’t want to see, you can also use “Not Interested” feature to filter out content you don’t want to see. To do this, simply click on the three dots at the bottom right corner of a video and select “Not Interested.”

Lastly, if you are tired of seeing particular recommendations, you can choose to hide them altogether. You can do this by clicking on the three dots next to the video and then selecting “Don’t Recommend Channel.” This will prevent any future videos from that channel from appearing in your recommendations.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
