How to Add Widgets to Your iPad Home Screen

The home screen on the iPad is a great way to access your favorite apps and features quickly. However, did you know that you can make your home screen even more convenient by adding widgets? Widgets are small, function-specific apps that can be added to your home screen, providing you with quick access to information, shortcuts, and more.

In this article, we’ll take a look at how you can add widgets to your iPad home screen for a more personalized experience.

Step One: Choosing the Right Widgets

Before you start adding widgets to your home screen, it’s important to decide which ones you actually want to use. Apple’s iOS 14 update provides a wide variety of widgets, so you’ll want to browse through the available options to find the ones that best meet your needs.

To browse the available widgets:

1. Press and hold a blank area on your iPad home screen until the apps start to jiggle

2. Tap the plus sign (+) icon in the upper-left corner

3. Browse through the available widgets, selecting the ones you want to add to your home screen

4. Tap Add Widget to add it to your home screen

Each widget will have slightly different functionality, so it’s important to choose ones that will be useful to you on a regular basis.

Step Two: Customizing Your Widgets

Once you’ve added your widgets to your home screen, you can start customizing them to best meet your needs. For example, you can change the size and placement of the widget, as well as how it appears on your home screen.

To customize a widget:

1. Press and hold the widget you want to customize

2. Tap Edit Widget

3. Make the desired changes, such as changing the widget size or adjusting the content it displays

4. Tap outside the widget to save your changes

You can also move your widgets around on your home screen, just like you would with an app.

To move a widget:

1. Press and hold the widget you want to move

2. Drag it to the desired location on your home screen

3. Release the widget to drop it in place

Step Three: Removing Widgets

If you decide you no longer want a widget on your home screen, it’s easy to remove it.

To remove a widget:

1. Press and hold the widget you want to remove

2. Tap Remove Widget

3. Tap Remove to confirm

It’s important to note that removing a widget only removes it from your home screen – it does not delete the app itself.
