Adding borders to photos can give them a more finished and polished look, and it’s easier than you might think. There are several ways to add borders to your photos, ranging from basic methods like using the built-in tools in your photo editing software to more advanced techniques like using plugins or online tools. Here are some easy methods to add borders to your photos:

1. Using the built-in tools in your photo editing software:

Most photo editing software, like Adobe Photoshop or GIMP, come with built-in border tools that allow you to add borders to your photos quickly and easily. In Photoshop, for example, you can select the “Rectangle Tool” and then choose a stroke style, width, and color to create a border. In GIMP, you can use the “Border” filter to add a solid or gradient border to your photo.

2. Using free online tools:

There are many free online tools that allow you to add borders to your photos, such as Picmonkey, Canva or Fotor. These tools usually provide a simple interface, and you can upload your photo and choose from a wide selection of border styles, colors, and sizes. Once you’ve added your border, you can then download the photo and use it as you like.

3. Using plugins:

You can also use photo editing plugins to add borders to your photos. For example, in Photoshop, you can use the “Border” plugin from Flaming Pear to add artistic borders to your photos, or the “Perfect Resize” plugin from ON1 to resize and add borders in one step. These plugins usually require you to purchase them, but they can provide more advanced features and customization options than basic tools.

4. Using smartphone apps:

If you’re on the go and want to add borders to your photos with your smartphone, there are many apps available that allow you to do so. Apps like VSCO, Snapseed or Adobe Lightroom mobile all offer easy-to-use border tools that you can use to add borders to your photos on the fly.
