As iPhone users, we all know the struggle of managing our device’s storage capacity. One of the significant contributors to this issue is video files. High-quality videos require more storage, and downloading or streaming them on our iPhones can quickly eat up a considerable chunk of our available space. Changing the Video Quality on an iPhone is an excellent solution to this problem.

Why Change the Video Quality on an iPhone?

Before understanding how to change the video quality on an iPhone, let’s talk about why it is necessary. Let’s say you come across a fantastic video online that you want to download or stream on your iPhone. You might not realize it, but videos of 1080p or 720p can use up a lot of storage space. For example, a minute-long 1080p video captured at 30 frames per second (fps) can take up approximately 130 MB.
Another common issue is buffering while streaming videos, which can take up much of your mobile data. Changing the video quality can help prevent these issues, allowing you to save storage space and reduce data usage.

How to Change the Video Quality on an iPhone?

Changing the Video Quality on your iPhone is easy, and it can be done in a few steps. Here is a step-by-step guide:

1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.

2. Scroll down and find the “TV” option and tap on it.

3. Under the TV settings, tap on “iTunes Videos.”

4. In the iTunes Videos settings, you will find “Download HD,” “Download Full-Size HD” and “Video Resolution.”

5. Tap on the “Video Resolution” option, and you can choose from different video quality options – 720p, 1080p, and 4K.

Alternatively, you can also change the video quality on specific apps, such as YouTube or Netflix. Here is how:

For YouTube:

1. Open the YouTube app on your iPhone.

2. Tap on the three-dot icon next to the video you want to watch.

3. Select the “Quality” option, and you can adjust the video’s quality based on your preference.

For Netflix:

1. Open the Netflix app on your iPhone.

2. Tap on the “More” tab on the bottom-right corner of your screen.

3. Tap on “App Settings” and select “Video Quality.”

4. Choose between three options – “Save Data,” “Balanced,” or “High.”

Conclusion

Adjusting the Video Quality on your iPhone can significantly improve your device’s storage capacity and data usage. Whether you want to download videos, stream them online, or use streaming services such as Netflix, changing the video quality settings is a simple and effective way to reduce data usage and save storage space. So the next time you find yourself struggling with your iPhone’s storage capacity or data usage, remember that you can easily tweak the video quality settings to meet your needs.
