Music plays a huge role in our lives, and most of us have been in the situation where we hear a song we really like, but we have no idea what it’s called or who the artist is. Luckily, with the emergence of technology, there are now several free online services that can help us identify unknown songs. Here are some of the best ones:

1. Shazam – Shazam is probably one of the most well-known music identification apps available. It’s a free downloadable app that uses your device’s microphone to listen to a sample of a song and then compares it to its vast database of music. It can identify songs in seconds and even provides information about the artist and the lyrics of the song.

2. SoundHound – Similar to Shazam, SoundHound is another music identification app that can recognize a song simply by listening to a few seconds of it. One benefit of SoundHound is that it offers a feature called “Sing or Hum,” which allows you to identify a song by singing or humming a few bars of it.

3. Musipedia – Musipedia offers a unique way to identify songs, which is by users inputting the melody, either by playing it on a virtual keyboard or by simply singing or humming the tune. Users can also search for songs through keywords, composers, or musical notation.

4. Midomi – Midomi is a free online service that offers music identification through voice recognition technology. Users can sing, hum, whistle or even say the name of the song, and Midomi will provide potential matches. It also offers a feature where users can record and upload their own music, share it with others, and have their music identified.

5. Genius – Genius is a popular website that provides song lyrics, artist information, and song meanings. It also offers a feature called “Song ID,” where users can input a few lyrics or the name of the artist and song, and Genius will provide the song’s information.

In conclusion, there are several free online services that can help identify unknown songs. These services offer unique features and ways to search for songs, but all are user-friendly and can provide accurate results in seconds. No matter what your music taste is, these services are essential for any music lover who wants to broaden their musical knowledge.
