Disney’s Once Upon A Studio: 7 Best Deep Cut References In The Short Film

Disney’s Once Upon A Studio is a delightful short film that pays homage to the vast and colorful universe of Disney’s creations. For die-hard fans and eagle-eyed viewers, the short is a treasure trove of subtle nods and winks to Disney’s rich history. Here are 7 of the best deep cut references in the film that you might have missed:

1. Hidden Mickeys Galore: The classic Disney Easter egg, the three-circle silhouette of Mickey Mouse, can be spotted throughout the film. Look closely at scenes with circular objects or patterns – some Hidden Mickeys are not immediately obvious!

2. The Sorcerer’s Apprentice Broom: In one corner of the animator’s studio, amidst the chaos of creative energy, stands a broom propped up against a bucket – a clear reference to the enchanted broom in “Fantasia” that Mickey, as the Sorcerer’s Apprentice, brings to life.

3. A113: This number which appears in nearly every Pixar movie as an animator’s inside joke, referencing a CalArts classroom, can be seen etched subtly into a desk near the window – a nod to the collaborative spirit between Disney and Pixar.

4. Oswald the Lucky Rabbit: On one of the shelves holding various sketches, there’s a brief glimpse of Oswald, Walt Disney’s earlier character before Mickey Mouse came along – acknowledging Disney’s early animation history.

5. The Magic Lamp from Aladdin: Tucked away in a back corner of the room is a lamp that closely resembles that which housed Genie – while it doesn’t take center stage, it shines enough to catch an attentive viewer’s eye.

6. Skellington’s Cameo: Paying tribute to Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas”, which was produced by Disney, Jack Skellington makes a small cameo appearance in portrait form on one of the walls within the studio.

7. The Enchanted Rose from Beauty and The Beast: A rose under glass can be seen on one of the tables – though not wilting like its counterpart in “Beauty and The Beast”, its presence is an elegant hint towards Belle’s blooming love story.

These hidden details showcase Disney’s penchant for sprinkling nostalgia and rewarding loyal fans with delightful in-jokes – each one requiring keen observation skills or an encyclopedic knowledge of all things Disney!
