As a designer, creativity is your bread and butter. The ability to come up with fresh, innovative ideas is what sets you apart from the rest of the bunch. However, creativity is not always easy to come by. Sometimes, you might feel stuck in a rut, struggling to come up with new ideas. This is where design challenges can help.

Design challenges are a great way to break out of your creative block and push your limits. They are designed to test your skills and stimulate your thinking. By participating in these challenges, you can discover new techniques, learn new tools, and exercise your creative muscles.

Here are a few design challenges that will help boost your creativity.

1. One-Color Design Challenge

The one-color design challenge is a great way to experiment with various shades and tones of the same color. The goal is to create a visually striking design that uses only one color. This challenge forces you to think about contrast, texture, and emphasis, all while limiting your color options.

2. Experimental Typography Challenge

Typography is a vital aspect of design, and this challenge takes it to the next level. The experimental typography challenge encourages you to push beyond the boundaries of traditional typefaces and design something entirely new. You might try playing with size, shape, and placement to create a unique and memorable design.

3. Make a Custom Icon Challenge

Icons are essential in design and help to communicate visual information quickly. This challenge requires you to create customized icons for a specific product or brand. It’s an excellent opportunity to explore new design ideas and push the limits of your creativity.

4. Daily Design Challenge

The daily design challenge is an ongoing creative exercise that involves creating a design every day. The goal is to challenge yourself to come up with new ideas and explore different design styles. This challenge is a great way to cultivate the habit of creativity and keep your skills sharp.

5. Illustration Challenge

Illustration is a powerful storytelling tool, and this challenge pushes you to tell stories through images. You could try sketching a daily illustration to tell a story, visualize a quote or concept, or even create an inspiring character. This challenge pushes your imagination and creativity, helping you to develop your illustration skills.

Design challenges are an excellent way to boost your creativity and increase your skills. They provide an opportunity to push beyond your limits, experiment with new ideas, and hone your skills. By trying new challenges, you’ll broaden your horizons and discover new techniques that will help you grow as a designer. So go ahead, take on a challenge, and see how it can boost your creativity.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
