The Costco Anywhere Visa Card by Citi is a popular choice for those who frequently shop at Costco and desire a credit card that offers rewards for everyday purchases. This comprehensive review will delve into the benefits and drawbacks of the card, and help you decide if it’s the right fit for you.

Features and Benefits

1. Cash Back Rewards: The Costco Anywhere Visa Card offers generous cash back rewards on a variety of spending categories. Cardholders can earn 4% cash back on eligible gas purchases (up to $7,000 per year, then 1%), 3% cash back on restaurants and eligible travel purchases, 2% cash back on all other purchases from Costco and Costco.com, and 1% cash back on all other purchases.

2. No Annual Fee with Costco Membership: There is no annual fee for this card as long as you maintain a valid Costco membership. However, it’s essential to note that a paid Costco membership ($60 or $120 per year) is required to apply and remain eligible for the card.

3. Travel Benefits: Cardholders can take advantage of various travel benefits such as damage and theft purchase protection, trip cancellation and interruption protection, worldwide travel accident insurance, and worldwide car rental insurance coverage.

4. Extended Warranty: The Costco Anywhere Visa Card also provides an extended warranty on your purchases, which can add up to 24 extra months of coverage beyond the manufacturer’s warranty.

Drawbacks

1. Limited Redemption Options: One downside is the limited options when it comes to redeeming your cash back rewards. Rewards are only issued once a year in February as a reward certificate that must be used at Costco stores in the United States.

2. Only One Authorized User Per Account: Unlike some other credit cards that allow multiple authorized users to be added without additional fees, the Costco Anywhere Visa Card permits only one authorized user per account.

3. Requires a Costco Membership: As mentioned earlier, having a Costco membership is mandatory to apply and maintain the credit card. If you don’t shop frequently at Costco, this card might not be the best choice for you.

Conclusion

The Costco Anywhere Visa Card by Citi is an excellent option for those who regularly shop at Costco and can take advantage of its rewards system. The cash back rewards on various spending categories are lucrative, and the additional travel benefits make it even more appealing. However, if you don’t frequently shop at Costco or are looking for more flexibility in redeeming your rewards, it may be worthwhile to consider other credit card options.
