Apple fries are a delicious and unique treat that can make a perfect snack or dessert. They are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and bursting with sweet, tangy apple flavor. Follow this simple recipe to learn how to make the best apple fries that will leave everyone asking for more.

Ingredients:

– 4 large apples (preferably Granny Smith)

– 1 cup flour

– 1 cup panko bread crumbs

– 2 eggs, beaten

– 1/3 cup granulated sugar

– 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

– Vegetable oil, for frying

– Optional: caramel sauce or whipped cream, for dipping

Instructions:

1. Prepare the apples: Peel and core the apples, then slice them into thin “fries” around 1/4 inch thick.

2. Prepare the coating: In one shallow dish, place the flour. In another shallow dish, combine the panko bread crumbs with granulated sugar and cinnamon. Mix well. Finally, in a third dish, place the beaten eggs.

3. Coat the apples: First, dredge each apple slice in flour, shaking off excess. Then dip it into the beaten egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat in the spiced panko mixture, pressing gently to ensure full coverage.

4. Heat oil for frying: Fill a deep skillet or frying pan with about an inch of vegetable oil and heat it over medium-high heat until it reaches around 350°F (175°C). If you don’t own a kitchen thermometer, you can test whether your oil is ready by dropping in a small amount of panko crumbs – if they sizzle immediately without burning quickly, your oil is ready.

5. Fry the apples: Carefully drop coated apple slices into the hot oil using tongs or a slotted spoon. Do not overcrowd the pan; fry them in batches if necessary. Cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove from oil with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain and cool slightly.

6. Serve and enjoy: For an extra touch of sweetness, you can sprinkle more cinnamon sugar on top of the warm apple fries. Serve them with caramel sauce or whipped cream for dipping, if desired.

This simple and mouthwatering apple fries recipe is perfect for sharing with family and friends. The crispy and sweet treats are sure to become a favorite among both kids and adults alike. Give this apple fries recipe a try, and enjoy the fantastic combination of flavors!
