An Open Letter to a Father-to-Be

Spread the love

Mothers tend to be the prominent figure in a child’s life. A bond is created from birth and children often look to their moms for support and comfort. Unfortunately, fathers are left on the sidelines. Some are happy to let the mothers do most of the child-rearing; however, parents should have an equal say in how a child is raised.

So, here is an open letter to all dads-to-be you should read.

For The Future Fathers

Becoming a parent is a scary prospect for millions of fathers around the world. You want your baby to have a great start in life, but it’s easy to worry about all the milestones and not being able to give them everything they need. It’s panic station time for most dads-to-be. You, however, want to be an active parent so that you can watch the child grow and be respected members of society. Children with involved fathers tend to be confident and secure in their later years.

Your children are more likely to develop healthy relationships because of your influence. They can see how you interact with your partner, family members, friends, colleagues, and total strangers. It all creates an influence on behavior for the child, and they are likely to imitate what they see.

Give Them the Benefit of your Influence

Girls look to their fathers as the type of men they hope to marry one day. You want your daughter to find a man that loves her, treats her well, and fully respects her. So, you must show that example and be a father that treats her – and her mother – with care and respect.

Boys want their father’s approval. So, it is important you show yours in a positive manner. Remember, the behavior of a child is often learned from the role models they have in their lives. When you are a positive role model and influence, they have a greater chance of becoming a standup character.

Of course, it is a lot of pressure to take. You’ll have great days as a father, where you’re proud of your children; and there will also be days you are so disappointed you start to question your decision to have them. It’s a rollercoaster but it usually turns out to be the best decision you ever made. Self-doubt will fade away and you’ll be confident and proud to be a parent.

Be the Parent You Can Be

Every child needs a mother and father, and you are a crucial part of their life. You aren’t a backup parent that only takes charge when the child’s mother is not at home. You are a primary parent and should relish the chance to help rear your child.

You, however, should never forget how important mom is and to take care of her too. Your child needs both parents.
