DPC Watchdog Violation is a common problem that many Windows 11 users face. This error can occur while running heavy applications or during a system update. The good news is that there are several ways to fix this problem. In this article, we will discuss some of the ways to fix DPC Watchdog Violation in Windows 11.

Method 1: Update Drivers

One of the most common reasons for DPC Watchdog Violation errors is outdated drivers. The drivers are the link between the hardware and software of your computer. If the drivers are outdated, they can cause system conflicts that result in this error. To fix this problem, you need to update the drivers on your computer.

To update drivers on Windows 11, do the following:

Step 1: Open the Device Manager.

Step 2: Right-click on the device that you want to update and select Update Driver.

Step 3: Windows will automatically search for the latest driver version and install it.

Method 2: Remove recently installed software

Sometimes, newly installed software can conflict with the system and cause DPC Watchdog Violation errors. If you have recently installed software, try uninstalling it to see if the error goes away. To uninstall software on Windows 11, follow these steps:

Step 1: Open the Start menu.

Step 2: Click on Settings.

Step 3: Click on Apps.

Step 4: Select the software that you want to uninstall and click Uninstall.

Method 3: Check for malware and viruses

Malware and viruses can also trigger DPC Watchdog Violation errors. To check for malware and viruses, you need to scan your computer using an antivirus program. Windows 11 comes with a built-in antivirus program called Windows Defender.

To scan your computer using Windows Defender, do the following:

Step 1: Open the Start menu.

Step 2: Click on Settings.

Step 3: Click on Update & Security.

Step 4: Click on Windows Security.

Step 5: Click on Virus & threat protection.

Step 6: Click on Scan options.

Step 7: Select the type of scan that you want to run and click Scan now.

Method 4: Update Windows

Windows updates often include fixes for known bugs and errors. To fix DPC Watchdog Violation errors, you need to make sure that your Windows 11 is up to date.

To update Windows 11, do the following:

Step 1: Open the Start menu.

Step 2: Click on Settings.

Step 3: Click on Windows Update.

Step 4: Click on Check for updates.

Step 5: If there are any updates available, click Download and install.

Method 5: Run a disk check

Disk errors can also trigger DPC Watchdog Violation errors. To fix this problem, you need to run a disk check.

To run a disk check on Windows 11, do the following:

Step 1: Open File Explorer.

Step 2: Right-click on the disk that you want to check and select Properties.

Step 3: Click on the Tools tab.

Step 4: Click on Check.

Step 5: Windows will detect and fix any errors on your disk.

Conclusion

DPC Watchdog Violation errors can be frustrating, but they are not difficult to fix. If you face this error, try the methods outlined in this article. Updating drivers, removing recently installed software, checking for malware and viruses, updating Windows, and running a disk check can help you fix DPC Watchdog Violation errors in Windows 11.
