Windows BT folder is a temporary folder created by Windows operating system during the upgrade process. The folder is used to store files and data related to the upgrade process, including backup copies of the previous version of Windows, logs, setup files, and other information.

The Windows BT folder is typically located in the root directory of the system drive, which is usually the C:\ drive. The size of the folder can vary depending on the amount of data stored in it but can take up several gigabytes of disk space.

While the Windows BT folder is intended to be temporary, it may not always be automatically removed after the upgrade process is complete. This can result in a situation where the folder takes up valuable disk space and can slow down the system’s performance.

If you want to delete the Windows BT folder to free up disk space, you can do so by following the steps below:

Step 1:

Open File Explorer by pressing Windows + E keys on your keyboard.

Step 2:

Navigate to the root directory of the system drive, which is usually the C:\ drive.

Step 3:

Locate the Windows BT folder, right-click on it and select Delete.

Step 4:

If prompted with a security message, click on Continue to authorize the action.

Step 5:

Wait for the deletion process to complete, which may take some time depending on the size of the folder.

Step 6:

Once the folder has been deleted, right-click on the Recycle Bin icon, and select Empty Recycle Bin to permanently remove the folder from the system.

Note:

It is important to note that deleting the Windows BT folder may prevent you from rolling back to the previous version of Windows if the need arises. Therefore, it is recommended to only delete the folder if you are sure that you no longer need it.

In conclusion, the Windows BT folder is a temporary folder created during the upgrade process in Windows operating system. While it is intended to be temporary, it may not always be automatically removed after the process, and it can take up valuable disk space. If you want to delete the folder to free up disk space, follow the steps above, but be careful as it will prevent you from rolling back to the previous version of Windows.
