Birthdays are special occasions that we look forward to every year. However, with our busy schedules, it can be easy to forget them. To avoid missing your loved ones’ birthdays, you can use Google Calendar to automatically add them to your calendar. Here’s how to do it:
Step 1: Enable the Birthdays Calendar
Open Google Calendar and click on the three dots beside “Add calendar” in the left-hand sidebar. Select “Browse calendars of interest” and in the pop-up window, scroll down till you see “Contacts’ birthdays and events”. Click on the + sign beside it to add it to your calendar.
Step 2: Ensure that your Google Contacts have the correct details
To add your contacts’ birthdays to Google Calendar, ensure that their dates of birth are added in their Google Contact details. You can do this by opening Google Contacts and selecting the contact that you want to update. In their details, click on the pencil icon beside “Events” and then “Birthday”. Here, update the date of birth and save the changes.
Step 3: Confirm that the Birthdays Calendar is enabled
To ensure that the updated birthday is added to your calendar, ensure that the “Birthdays” calendar is turned ON. Click on the three dots beside the “Birthdays” calendar and select “Settings and sharing”. In the pop-up window, you can customize the notifications and visibility of this calendar.
Step 4: Keep your calendar updated
Google Calendar automatically adds new contacts that have their birthdays included. To ensure that the calendar is up-to-date with new contacts, ensure that they are added to your Google Contacts.
In conclusion, adding birthdays to Google Calendar ensures that you never forget them again. With the Birthdays Calendar enabled, you will receive a notification the day before the birthdays of your contacts, giving you time to prepare and plan accordingly. Ensure that your contact details are updated and have the correct date of birth to make the process seamless.
