21:9 Ultrawide Monitors: How Wide Is Too Wide?

In recent years, Ultrawide monitors have been gaining popularity among gamers, content creators, and even office workers. These monitors offer an immersive experience by providing a wider aspect ratio than traditional 16:9 monitors. However, there are two common aspect ratios for Ultrawide monitors – 32:9 and 21:9. This raises the question: How wide is too wide?

Let’s take a closer look at each aspect ratio and its pros and cons.

32:9 Ultrawide Monitors:

32:9 Ultrawide monitors, also known as super ultrawide monitors, offer an extremely wide aspect ratio. These monitors have a resolution of 3840×1080 or higher, which provides an immersive viewing experience. With a 32:9 aspect ratio, users can have multiple windows open side-by-side or several applications open without having to switch between them constantly.

One of the main advantages of a 32:9 Ultrawide monitor is that it offers a larger workspace. This can be very beneficial for content creators who are editing videos or photos. By having more screen real estate, they can view their work in more detail and have more room to work on different parts of the project at once.

On the downside, 32:9 Ultrawide monitors can be quite pricey. They also require a more powerful graphics card to support their high resolutions, which can add to the cost of upgrading your PC setup. Additionally, some users might find the screen too wide and have to crane their necks to view the edges.

21:9 Ultrawide Monitors:

21:9 Ultrawide monitors, on the other hand, have a more moderate aspect ratio than 32:9 monitors. These monitors have a resolution of 3440×1440 or higher and offer a wider view than traditional 16:9 monitors. They strike a balance between screen real estate and price, making them a popular choice for gamers and content creators alike.

One of the main advantages of a 21:9 Ultrawide monitor is that it offers a wider viewing angle, which makes it easier to immerse yourself in games or movies. These monitors are also less expensive than 32:9 Ultrawide monitors and require less graphics card power to run.

On the downside, 21:9 Ultrawide monitors still require a more powerful graphics card than traditional monitors to support their higher resolutions. They also offer less screen real estate than 32:9 Ultrawide monitors, which can be a drawback for content creators who need as much workspace as possible.
