4 Ways to Get 99 Lives in New Super Mario Bros DS

Introduction:

New Super Mario Bros for the Nintendo DS has reinvigorated the classic franchise with its exciting gameplay and challenging levels. As you progress through the game, you may find yourself in need of extra lives to overcome difficult obstacles. Thankfully, there are several techniques available to help you reach the coveted 99 lives. In this article, we’ll explore four methods to earn those lives and make your journey through the Mushroom Kingdom a little bit easier.

Method 1: Shell Bouncing

One of the most popular ways to gain extra lives is by bouncing on shells continuously. To do this, first find a level with Koopa Troopas or similar enemies that can be kicked into their shells (such as World 1-1). Next, stomp on the enemy and kick its shell against a wall or pipe. Position yourself next to the wall or pipe and repeatedly jump on the bouncing shell without touching the ground. As you continue to bounce off the shell, your combo count will increase, earning you more and more lives.

Method 2: Mega Mushroom

Another way to collect lives is by using a Mega Mushroom. When you obtain this power-up, Mario transforms into an unstoppable giant capable of crushing enemies and objects in his path. As you rampage through a level, any enemy or breakable object defeated gives you points. Accumulating enough points while under the effect of a Mega Mushroom will reward you with multiple 1-Up Mushrooms.

Method 3: Mini-Mario Star Coin Challenge

In certain levels, there are Star Coins hidden within blocks that are only accessible by Mini-Mario. By collecting all three Star Coins in these levels and completing them as Mini-Mario, you will be granted bonus lives upon reaching these levels’ end flags.

Method 4: Coin Collecting

While it may seem like an obvious method, it’s important not to forget the classic way of earning lives: collecting coins. Every 100 coins you gather nets you an additional life. Keep an eye out for hidden coin caches or secret areas while playing, as these are often loaded with coins waiting to be collected.

Conclusion:

By utilizing these four techniques, you’ll be well on your way to reaching the maximum of 99 lives in New Super Mario Bros DS. Now, with your newfound stockpile of lives, you can fearlessly face any challenge that awaits you in the Mushroom Kingdom. Happy gaming, and remember to never give up!
