Introduction:

Tongue piercings are a popular form of body modification, but there are times when you may want or need to hide them. Whether it’s for professional reasons, family gatherings, or any other situation, knowing how to effectively conceal your tongue piercing can be essential. In this article, we will discuss nine simple steps to help you hide your tongue piercing successfully.

Step 1: Choose the right jewelry

When getting a tongue piercing, opt for jewelry made from non-reflective materials like titanium or niobium. These materials blend well with the natural color of your tongue and make the piercing less noticeable.

Step 2: Use a smaller gemstone or bead

Pick a jewelry piece with a small gemstone or bead. A smaller adornment draws less attention and is easier to conceal.

Step 3: Opt for a flat disc backing

Replace the traditional ball backing with a flat disc backing. It will sit more flush against your tongue and is less conspicuous when speaking or eating.

Step 4: Consider a clear retainer

Invest in a clear piercing retainer made from bio-compatible plastic material like BioPlast or PTFE. These retainers can be easily inserted into the piercing hole and are almost invisible.

Step 5: Maintain good oral hygiene

Keeping your mouth clean helps ensure that your tongue piercing is not as noticeable. Brush your teeth regularly to avoid drawing attention to your mouth due to bad breath or food particles stuck around the piercing.

Step 6: Avoid playing with your piercing

Refrain from touching, twisting, or moving the jewelry around in your mouth. The more you fidget with it, the more likely others are to notice it.

Step 7: Control your tongue movements

Be mindful of how you move your tongue when speaking or eating. Try not to emphasize words that require sticking out your tongue and avoid sticking it out while eating or laughing.

Step 8: Use a mouthguard during sports

If you participate in sports activities, wear a mouthguard to cover your piercing. This protects the piercing and covers it from view.

Step 9: Practice discretion

When speaking about your piercing, be discreet and avoid bringing it up in conversations when it’s not appropriate. If people don’t know about it, they are less likely to notice it.

Conclusion:

Hiding a tongue piercing may seem challenging at first, but with these nine steps, you can easily conceal your body modification. Choosing the right jewelry, practicing discretion, and being mindful of your oral hygiene and tongue movements will allow you to hide your piercing successfully in various situations.
