10 Useful Command-Line IrfanView Tools for Working With Images

IrfanView is a lightweight and powerful image viewer that has been popular among users since its inception. Not only can it view and manage images, but it also comes with several command-line tools that can make dealing with images much faster and more efficient.

In this article, we will cover ten useful command-line IrfanView tools that every user should know about.

1. i_view32.exe

This is the main executable file for IrfanView’s command line. It is responsible for launching IrfanView in command-line mode to execute various commands mentioned below.

2. /convert

This command allows you to convert an image from one format to another. For example, if you have a .jpg file and wish to convert it to .png format, you can do so using the /convert command.

3. /resize

This command is used to resize an image. You can specify the width and height of the image in pixels using this command. For example, if you wish to resize an image to 600×400 pixels, you can do so using the /resize command.

4. /crop

This command is used to crop an image. You can specify the area to be cropped by specifying the coordinates of the top-left and bottom-right corners of the area. For example, if you wish to crop an image from (50,50) to (150,150), you can do so using the /crop command.

5. /flip

This command flips an image vertically or horizontally. You can specify whether you want to flip the image horizontally or vertically using this command.

6. /rotate

This command is used to rotate an image. You can specify the angle of rotation using this command. For example, if you wish to rotate an image by 90 degrees, you can do so using the /rotate command.

7. /gray

This command is used to convert an image to grayscale. If you wish to convert your image to grayscale, you can use the /gray command.

8. /invert

This command is used to invert the colors of an image. If you wish to invert the colors of your image, you can use the /invert command.

9. /slideshow

This command is used to create a slideshow of images. You can specify the slideshow interval, repeat mode, and transition effects using this command.

10. /print

This command is used to print an image. You can specify the printing options such as the printer name, number of copies, page orientation, etc., using this command.
