What Is Safe Mode in Windows 10?

Safe Mode is a powerful feature in Windows 10 that allows users to troubleshoot their system and diagnose any issues that may be hindering its performance. This mode is designed specifically for technicians and advanced users who are looking for a way to start their computer while minimizing the amount of software that loads by default.

In Safe Mode, Windows 10 starts up with the basic set of drivers and services required to run the operating system. In addition, all non-essential functions are disabled, which means that your computer will run more smoothly and efficiently. This mode is ideal for diagnosing and fixing common issues such as a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD), a virus infection, or a problem with a specific software application.

To access Safe Mode, you simply need to restart your computer and hold down the F8 key during startup. Alternatively, you can use the Advanced Startup Options menu by following these steps:

1. On the Windows 10 Desktop, click the Start button in the lower left-hand corner.

2. Click the Power button, then hold down the Shift key and click Restart.

3. On the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings, then click Restart.

4. When the PC restarts, you’ll see a menu of options. Press F5 for Safe Mode with Networking – this will allow you to connect to your network and internet.

Once you are in Safe Mode, you can perform a variety of tasks to identify and fix issues with your computer. Some of the tasks that you can perform include running scans for viruses and malware, updating drivers and software, and troubleshooting errors related to hardware issues.

Overall, Safe Mode is a powerful tool that can help you diagnose and fix issues with your Windows 10 system. If you are experiencing problems with your computer, it is always a good idea to try starting it in Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. This can save you time and money by allowing you to fix the issue yourself, instead of having to take your computer to a technician.
