What Is Neo QLED? Is It Better than QLED and OLED?

Samsung has been constantly innovating and introducing new technologies to improve the viewing experience for its customers. One of the latest technologies developed is the Neo QLED, which is an upgrade from the traditional QLED technology. This new technology offers a better picture quality and addresses some of the limitations found in both QLED and OLED.

What is Neo QLED?

Neo QLED is a term coined by Samsung to describe its latest advancement in Quantum Dot Light Emitting Diode (QLED) technology. This technology uses miniaturized LEDs, which allows for greater brightness and contrast control than traditional QLEDs. Neo QLED uses a new lighting system that delivers highly accurate and precise lighting, leading to more realistic and lifelike images.

One key feature of Neo QLED is its use of Quantum Mini LED technology. This technology is a huge advancement in LED backlighting, allowing for greater precision in lighting and local dimming. Quantum Mini LEDs are smaller and more densely packed to provide better contrast and a wider range of color accuracy than traditional LEDs. This technology results in a vibrant and cinematic viewing experience for the user.

Is Neo QLED better than QLED and OLED?

Neo QLED offers many advantages over QLED and OLED technology, including better brightness, deeper blacks, and wider viewing angles. Brightness is an essential aspect of picture quality, and Neo QLED performs significantly better than traditional QLEDs in this regard.

The Quantum Mini LED system used in Neo QLED provides precise control over brightness and dimming, enabling it to produce brighter and more dynamic HDR images. This gives the viewer a more immersive experience and enhances the overall viewing quality.

Another significant advantage of Neo QLED over OLED is its brightness. OLED panels have been criticized for their brightness limitations, especially in brightly lit environments. Neo QLED has addressed this limitation by providing brightness levels that rival those of conventional LED displays.

Neo QLED’s use of miniaturized LEDs also allows it to achieve deeper blacks, which makes for better image contrast. OLEDs are praised for their ability to produce deeper blacks than traditional LED panels. However, Neo QLED technology provides a similar level of black depth while eliminating the risk of image retention, commonly known as burn-in, which can be a problem with OLED displays.

Moreover, Neo QLED’s Quantum Mini LED technology delivers impressive local dimming, allowing it to produce accurate colors and greater contrast. Local dimming is an essential feature when it comes to displaying HDR content. Neo QLED’s local dimming technology results in a more immersive viewing experience that rivals OLED displays.
