What Is Cloud Computing?

Cloud computing is the delivery of computing services including servers, storage, databases, networking, software, analytics, and intelligence over the internet to offer a quick, affordable, and scalable solution.

The cloud service provider is responsible for hosting and maintaining the servers, databases, applications, software, and other infrastructure related to cloud computing. This helps to reduce the costs and the complexity of owning and operating the hardware, software, and networks. The users can access cloud services through a web-based interface or API.

Cloud computing offers a wide range of benefits for both individuals and businesses. One of the most significant benefit of cloud computing is that it enables users to access their data and applications from anywhere, as long as they have an internet connection. This can help to increase productivity and collaboration between teams, particularly in companies where remote working is becoming more common.

Cloud computing also offers a high level of scalability, meaning that users can quickly and easily add or remove resources as required, which can help to save time and money. With cloud computing, businesses can instantly access the resources they need without having to wait weeks or months for hardware and software to be delivered and installed.

Cloud computing also often includes automatic backups, security features, and disaster recovery capabilities, which can help to improve the reliability and security of data and applications. This can help companies to avoid costly downtime and data loss.

There are three main types of cloud computing services: Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). SaaS offers software applications that are delivered over the internet, PaaS is a platform for building and deploying applications, and IaaS provides the infrastructure needed to support applications and data.

In conclusion, cloud computing is a rapidly-growing industry that offers a range of benefits for individuals and businesses. From increased collaboration and productivity to improved scalability, reliability, and security, cloud computing can help to revolutionize the way we work and store our data.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
