What Do the Check Marks in WhatsApp Mean?

WhatsApp is the most widely used messaging platform all over the world. Its popularity can partly be attributed to its simplicity in terms of design and user interface. WhatsApp has various features that are user-friendly and enable efficient communication among users. One of these features is check marks.

Check marks in WhatsApp indicate the status of a message that has been sent to another user or group. The symbols are essential as they tell you whether a message has been delivered, read or failed to deliver. Different colors of the checkmarks signify different statuses of a message.

Single Grey Check Mark

A single grey check mark indicates that your message has been successfully sent from your device to the WhatsApp server. However, this does not necessarily mean that your message has been delivered to the recipient. This mark merely shows that your message has left your device.

Double Grey Check Mark

When you see two grey check marks, it means that your message has been successfully delivered to the recipient’s device. This mark shows that your message has reached the recipient’s phone, but it doesn’t mean that they have seen or read it.

Double Blue Check Mark

When you see two blue checkmarks, it means that your message has been delivered to the recipient’s phone, and they have seen or read it. This mark shows that the recipient has opened your message. However, it does not indicate whether they have responded or not.

Single Red Exclamation Mark

A single red exclamation mark means that your message has failed to send, and it has not been delivered to the recipient. This could be due to a poor internet connection, wrong phone number, or the recipient may have blocked you.

Double Red Exclamation Mark

When you see two red exclamation marks, it means that your message has failed to send, and it has not been delivered to the recipient. This mark shows that multiple attempts have been made to send the message, but they have all failed.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
