What Are Instagram Highlights and How Do You Use Them?

Instagram is a popular social media platform that is widely used by people to share photos and videos. The app is constantly introducing new features that make it easier for users to showcase their content. One of these features is Instagram highlights, which allow you to showcase stories in a lasting and engaging way. In this article, we’ll explore what Instagram highlights are, how to use them, and some tips for creating them.

In a nutshell, Instagram highlights are a way for users to showcase their stories on their profile, as opposed to being buried in their archives after 24 hours. Highlights appear as circular icons below a user’s bio section and can be customized to showcase various themes or categories. Each highlighted story remains on the profile until it is removed by the user.

Using Instagram highlights is pretty straightforward. Here’s how you can add them to your profile:

1. Open Instagram and navigate to your profile page

2. Tap the + icon located below your bio section

3. Select the stories that you want to feature in your highlight

4. Choose a highlight name and cover image

5. Tap “Add”

Once you’ve created a highlight, you can edit it at any time by tapping and holding on the highlight icon in your profile. From here, you can add or remove stories, change the name or cover image, or delete the highlight entirely.

Here are some tips for creating Instagram highlights:

1. Theme your highlights: Creating a theme or category for your highlights can make your profile more professional and consistent. Some popular themes include “travel,” “food,” “lifestyle,” and more.

2. Use eye-catching cover images: A highlight’s cover image is the first thing people will see, so use a high-quality and eye-catching image that represents the theme of that particular highlight.

3. Keep it organized: Keep your highlights organized to make it easy for people to find what they’re looking for. Use clear and concise names for each highlight, and only add stories that fit into that particular category.

4. Promote your highlights on your stories: You can use your regular Instagram stories to promote your highlights. For instance, you can create a story that encourages people to check out your highlights and see what you’ve been up to.
