Amazon Echo is a smart speaker that is designed to make your life easier by allowing you to control your smart home devices through voice commands. As the Amazon Echo product line has grown over the years, it has become increasingly difficult to tell the different models apart. In this article, we will take a closer look at the different Amazon Echo models and provide you with a guide to telling the difference.

The Original Amazon Echo

The first Amazon Echo was introduced in 2014 and is commonly known as the “original” Echo. It is a tall cylindrical device with a silver or black casing and a blue light that circles around the top when Alexa, Amazon’s voice assistant, is processing a request. The original Echo is around 9.25 inches tall with a diameter of 3.3 inches and has a power connector and an audio-out port on the back.

The Amazon Echo Dot

The Amazon Echo Dot is smaller and more affordable than the original Echo. It was first released in 2016 and comes in a compact circular design. The first generation had a flat top, while the later generations have a fabric-covered top that can be customized with different colors. The Dot measures 1.5 inches tall with a diameter of 3.9 inches and can be connected to external speakers via Bluetooth or aux cable.

The Amazon Echo Plus

The Amazon Echo Plus was introduced in 2017 and is a step up from the standard Echo in terms of sound quality and connectivity. It comes in a cylindrical design similar to the original Echo, but the Echo Plus has a cloth covering all over the device. There is a ring of light at the base, among other subtle differences, to indicate that it is an Echo Plus. The Echo Plus is around 9.3 inches tall with a diameter of 3.3 inches, and it comes with a built-in temperature sensor and a smart hub that can control other smart devices.

The Amazon Echo Show

The Amazon Echo Show was launched in 2017, and it is a smart speaker with a built-in display screen. It has a boxy design with a front-facing camera and comes in two different sizes: 5.5 inches and 10.1 inches. The Amazon Echo Show also has a microphone and a speaker array for voice control and audio playback.

The Amazon Echo Flex

The Amazon Echo Flex is the newest member of the Amazon Echo family, introduced in 2019. It is designed to fit into tight spaces and works as a smart speaker and basic smart home hub. The Echo Flex plugs directly into a power socket and is incredibly compact – measuring only 2.8 inches tall by 2.6 inches wide.

Conclusion

As you can see, there are many different Amazon Echo models, each with its unique design and features. Knowing exactly which model you have is essential for troubleshooting or upgrading. With the information provided in this guide, you should be able to differentiate between the different Amazon Echo models and understand which one is best for your needs.
