Introduction:

Solitaire, also referred to as Patience, is a popular and relaxing card game that can be enjoyed by individuals of all ages. With just a standard deck of cards, you can immerse yourself in this addicting pastime. In this article, we will discuss how to set up solitaire properly so that you can embark on your journey to become a solitaire master.

Step 1: Organize your deck

Before setting up the game, ensure that you have a standard 52-card deck with no jokers. Shuffle the deck thoroughly to randomize the card order.

Step 2: Prepare the tableau

Begin by placing one card face-up on the table. This will be known as the first foundation card. To create the tableau, place six cards face-down next to it, starting from left to right.

Step 3: Position additional cards

Next, place one face-up card on the second face-down card from the left. Then, place five more face-down cards on top of the remaining face-down cards in the tableau, following a left to right pattern. Repeat this process until there is only one face-down card left needing a face-up card on top.

Step 4: Form the stockpile and discard pile

After completing the tableau, place any remaining cards as a face-down stockpile in the upper-left corner of your playing area. This stockpile is known as the draw pile or hand. Opposite the stockpile in the upper-right corner of your playing area will be where you create your discard pile throughout gameplay.

Step 5: Set up foundation piles

Lastly, designate an area adjacent to your discard pile for four foundation piles. Initially empty, these piles will be filled with ascending suits as you progress through your solitaire game.

Conclusion:

Now that you’ve successfully set up solitaire, you are ready to play. To become proficient, remember that practice makes perfect! Play regularly, experiment with different strategies, and soon enough, you will navigate through the game with ease. Happy playing!
