An exciting hidden feature on your iPhone allows you to quickly identify the title of a song playing around you. This function, called song identification or music recognition, has been integrated into iOS and can be accessed seamlessly through a variety of methods. In this article, we will explore how to unlock and use this powerful iPhone capability.

Step 1: Enable Music Recognition

Initially, make sure that your iPhone is running at least iOS 14.2 to access this built-in feature. Here’s how to enable music recognition:

1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.

2. Scroll down and select Control Center.

3. Find Music Recognition under More Controls.

4. Tap the “+” icon beside Music Recognition to add it to your Control Center.

Step 2: Access Song Identification through Control Center

Once enabled, you can then access the feature with ease:

1. Swipe down from the upper-right corner of the screen (or up from the bottom if you’re using an iPhone with a

Home button) to launch the Control Center.

2. Tap on the Music Recognition icon, which resembles a Shazam logo.

3. Wait for the feature to recognize and identify the song.

4. Once identified, a notification will appear displaying the song title, artist, and album cover if available.

Step 3: Use Siri for Song Identification

Alternatively, you can also use Siri for music recognition without needing to unlock your phone:

1. Activate Siri by pressing and holding the side button (or Home button for older iPhone models) or simply say “Hey Siri” if it’s enabled.

2. Ask Siri to identify the song by saying something like “What song is this?” or “Name this song.”

3. Siri will then listen to the song playing in your environment and provide you with the relevant details.

Step 4: View Song Details and Open in Apple Music

Both methods mentioned above not only identify the song but also provide additional options to open it in Apple Music, add it to your library, or even play similar tracks.

1. Tap the notification or ask Siri to open the song in Apple Music.

2. Browse through the details or add it directly to your library by tapping the “+” icon.

3. Explore related songs, playlists or albums for even more music discovery.

Conclusion

So there you have it – a comprehensive guide on unlocking your iPhone’s useful hidden feature to quickly identify songs around you. Now you’ll never have to miss out on discovering great music with your iPhone by your side!
