Spread the love

The fragrance of gingerbread is a nostalgic herald of holiday cheer, often evoking warm memories of festive seasons past. With the winter holidays drawing near, what better way to indulge in the spirit than by making your own homemade gingerbread syrup? This delightful concoction is perfect for adding a splash of holiday flavor to your coffee, drizzling over pancakes, or as a sweet addition to your favorite cocktails. Here we share a simple and delicious recipe straight from Our Tiny Nest that promises to bring the essence of gingerbread to your table.

Ingredients:

– 1 cup water

– 1 cup granulated sugar

– 2 tablespoons molasses (for that deep, rich flavor)

– 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, thinly sliced

– 2 cinnamon sticks

– 1 teaspoon whole cloves

– 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions:

1.Combine water and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar has completely dissolved.

2.Add molasses to the mixture and stir well, ensuring it’s fully incorporated.

3.To the saucepan, add the slices of fresh ginger, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, and ground nutmeg.

4.Bring the mixture to a simmer and allow it to cook for about 20 minutes; this will infuse all the aromatic spices into the syrup.

5.After simmering, remove the saucepan from heat and let it stand for about 10 minutes to cool slightly and further develop the flavors.

6.Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean bottle or jar to remove all solid pieces.

7.Allow the syrup to cool completely before sealing with a lid.

To store your homemade gingerbread syrup, keep it in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Every time you use it, give your creation a little shake to mix any settled spices.

With this exquisite gingerbread syrup from Our Tiny Nest, you can enjoy seasonal beverages from home that taste just as special as those from any café. Whether you’re spicing up your morning latte or crafting an inventive holiday cocktail, this gingerbread syrup is guaranteed to spread joy and deliciousness all season long!
