When you connect to the internet, your device is assigned a unique IP address by your internet service provider (ISP). This IP address is used to identify your device and allows you to connect and communicate with other devices and networks. However, sometimes you may encounter connectivity issues or problems while browsing the internet. These issues can be caused by a variety of factors, including network congestion, faulty equipment, or problems with your IP address.

In such cases, you can try to release and renew your IP address to resolve the problem. This process involves temporarily releasing your device’s current IP address and requesting a new one from your ISP. In Microsoft Windows, this process can be easily done using the Command Prompt.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to release and renew your IP address in Microsoft Windows:

Step 1: Open Command Prompt

Go to the Start menu and search for “Command Prompt”. Right-click on it and select “Run as administrator”.

Step 2: Release the current IP address

Type the command “ipconfig/release” in the Command Prompt and press Enter. This will release your device’s current IP address.

Step 3: Renew the IP address

Type the command “ipconfig/renew” in the Command Prompt and press Enter. This will request a new IP address from your ISP.

Step 4: Check the new IP address

Type the command “ipconfig/all” in the Command Prompt and press Enter. This will display all the network configurations of your device, including the new IP address assigned by your ISP.

Step 5: Close the Command Prompt

Type the command “exit” in the Command Prompt and press Enter to close it.

In Conclusion, releasing and renewing your IP address is a simple and effective way to troubleshoot internet connectivity issues on your device. By following these quick steps, you can easily release and renew your IP address in Microsoft Windows and get back to browsing the web without interruption.
