Introduction:

The Orange Crush cocktail, with its bright and refreshing citrus flavor, is a summer favorite for many. Born in Ocean City, Maryland, this drink has gained popularity along the East Coast and beyond. With a mix of fresh orange juice, orange-flavored vodka, triple sec, and a splash of lemon-lime soda, this delicious concoction is the perfect way to cool off on a hot day. Follow this simple recipe to make your own Orange Crush and impress your guests at your next gathering.

Ingredients:

– 2 oz orange-flavored vodka

– 1 oz triple sec

– Juice from one fresh orange (approximately 2-3 oz)

– A splash of lemon-lime soda or sparkling water

– Ice (cubed or crushed)

– Orange wheel and mint sprig for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

1. Begin by chilling a highball or Collins glass in the freezer for several minutes before preparing your drink.

2. In the meantime, cut a fresh orange in half and squeeze the juice using a hand juicer or electric citrus juicer.

3. Next, fill a cocktail shaker with ice to chill your ingredients. Add the orange-flavored vodka, triple sec, and freshly squeezed orange juice to the shaker.

4. Close the shaker securely and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds to combine all ingredients well.

5. Remove your chilled glass from the freezer and fill it with ice, either cubed or crushed depending on your preference.

6. Strain the Orange Crush mixture from your shaker into the glass over ice.

7. Top off your drink with a splash of lemon-lime soda or sparkling water to add effervescence.

8. For an elegant touch, garnish your Orange Crush with an orange wheel on the rim of your glass and a sprig of mint.

9. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Variations and Tips:

For a lighter version, you can substitute the orange-flavored vodka with regular vodka or even use a lower-calorie spirit like gin. Additionally, if you prefer a sweeter drink, feel free to add a splash of simple syrup to taste. As always, feel free to experiment with different flavored vodkas and mixers to suit your own taste preferences.

Conclusion:

The Orange Crush is an easy-to-make, flavorful cocktail that’s perfect for any summer occasion, from backyard barbecues to beachside lounging. With its simple ingredients and vibrant citrus taste, this sunny delight is sure to become a go-to favorite in your cocktail repertoire. Cheers!
