No Permission to Enable Voice Typing on Android? Here’s How to Fix It
Voice typing is a convenient feature that makes it easier to type out text messages or emails. It frees up your hands and lets you dictate text instead of typing it out letter by letter. However, some Android users may encounter a problem where they can’t enable voice typing on their device. In this article, we’ll explore how to fix the “No permission to enable voice typing on Android” error.
First, it’s important to understand that the problem occurs because the voice typing feature requires access to your phone’s microphone. Without proper permissions, your device won’t be able to utilize this feature. Here’s what you can do:
1. Check App Permissions
The first thing you should check is whether or not the app you’re trying to use voice dictation on has permission to use your device’s microphone. To do this, go to Settings > Apps & notifications > App permissions > Microphone.
From there, you can see a list of all your apps that have permission to use your microphone. If the app you’re trying to use isn’t on that list, you’ll need to toggle the permission on for that app.
2. Clear Cache and Data
Another solution that might work involves clearing the cache and data for the app you’re trying to use voice dictation on. To do this, go to Settings > Apps & notifications > See all apps. Find the app you’re having issues with and select it. Then, click on “Storage and cache” and clear both the cache and the data for the app.
This will reset the app to its default state and might solve any issues that were present before.
3. Reset App Preferences
If the first two steps didn’t work, try resetting your app preferences. This will reset your app settings back to their default state. To do this, go to Settings > Apps & notifications > See all apps > Three dots in the upper right corner > Reset app preferences.
After you reset app preferences, you’ll need to give the app you’re trying to use voice dictation on permission to use your microphone again.
4. Reinstall App
If none of the above steps work, it’s possible that the app you’re trying to use has a bug or issue that is preventing you from enabling voice dictation. In this case, you can try to uninstall the app and then reinstall it from the Google Play Store.
This will wipe out any snags or bugs that may have been present on your device previously, and give you a fresh app to work with.
