The release of Windows 11 has created a buzz in the tech industry. With its sleek new look and added features, many people are excited to upgrade their operating system to Windows 11. However, before making the leap, it is important to ensure that your computer meets the minimum system requirements for Windows 11.

Windows 11 Minimum System Requirements

Processor: 1 GHz or faster with 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or System on a Chip (SoC)
RAM: 4 gigabytes or more
Storage space: 64 GB or more
System firmware: UEFI, Secure Boot capable
TPM: Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0
Graphics Card: DirectX 12 or later with a WDDM 2.0 driver
Display: High definition (720p) resolution display, 9″ or greater diagonal screen size, 8 bits per color channel

Processor

The processor is the heart of your computer. It is responsible for executing all the programs you open on your computer. Windows 11 requires a 1 GHz processor with 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or System on a Chip (SoC).

RAM

RAM or Random Access Memory is where your computer stores data temporarily for quick access. Windows 11 requires a minimum of 4 gigabytes of RAM. However, it is recommended to have 8 or more gigabytes of RAM for optimal performance.

Storage Space

Windows 11 requires a minimum of 64 GB of storage space. However, it is recommended to have at least 128 GB of storage space to store your files, programs, and updates.

System Firmware

Windows 11 requires a computer with UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) system firmware that is capable of Secure Boot. This is to ensure that your computer is secure and protected from any malware or viruses.

TPM

Trusted Platform Module (TPM) is a hardware-based security feature that stores cryptographic keys used to secure your computer’s data. Windows 11 requires TPM version 2.0 for enhanced security.

Graphics Card

Windows 11 requires a graphics card with DirectX 12 or later with a WDDM 2.0 driver. This is to ensure that your computer can handle the high-resolution graphics and videos of Windows 11.

Display

Your computer’s display is another important factor to consider when upgrading to Windows 11. Windows 11 requires a high definition (720p) resolution display, 9″ or greater diagonal screen size, 8 bits per color channel.

In conclusion, before upgrading to Windows 11, make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements. Failing to meet these requirements could cause compatibility issues, slow performance or other technical issues. Upgrading your computer’s hardware to meet these requirements is always an option, but you should weigh the costs against the benefits of upgrading to Windows 11.
