DoorDash is a popular food delivery service that has gained immense popularity during the pandemic. While ordering food through DoorDash is convenient, there are certain safety concerns that you need to be aware of.

Is DoorDash Safe?

DoorDash has taken several measures to ensure the safety of its customers. The app offers tracking features so that you can see the delivery person’s route and estimated arrival time. Additionally, the company provides background checks for all its drivers, including motor vehicle and criminal history checks.

DoorDash also offers contactless delivery, allowing customers to receive their food without any physical contact with the driver. This feature was introduced during the pandemic to minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission.

Scams You Need to Know About

While DoorDash takes several precautions to ensure the safety of its customers, there are still scams that you need to be aware of when using the app. Here are some of the most common DoorDash scams that you need to be cautious of:

1. Fake DoorDash Accounts

Scammers have been known to create fake DoorDash accounts to trick customers into providing personal information. They may create a fake login page or send phishing emails pretending to be DoorDash. To prevent this, make sure you only log in to the official DoorDash website or app.

2. Order Manipulation

This scam involves fraudsters who place an order and then call the restaurant, claiming to be from DoorDash, to manipulate the order. They may ask for additional items or make changes to the order, and then ask the restaurant to hand over the extra items to the driver. To avoid falling for this scam, always make sure to check the order details in the app and verify any changes with the restaurant directly.

3. Extortion Scams

Scammers may pose as DoorDash drivers and threaten to harm the customer or cancel their order if they don’t receive a cash payment. To avoid falling for this scam, always pay through the DoorDash app and never provide cash payments to drivers.

Conclusion

While DoorDash is generally safe to use, you need to be cautious of scams that may trick you into providing personal information or making cash payments. Make sure to only log in to the official DoorDash website or app, verify any changes to your order directly with the restaurant, and always pay through the app to avoid any potential scams.
