Updating your Uber account can be essential in various instances, such as changing your email address, phone number, or adding a new payment method. With this step-by-step guide, you’ll learn how to efficiently update your Uber account and ensure a smoother ridesharing experience.

1. Access your account

First, open the Uber app on your smartphone or visit the official Uber website. If you’re opening the app on your smartphone, make sure that you’re using the latest version to avoid any technical hiccups during your account update. Log in to your account using your email address and password.

2. Navigate to Settings

Once logged in successfully, open the app menu by tapping on the three horizontal lines found on the upper left corner of the screen. From there, click on “Settings.”

3. Edit personal information

In Settings, you will find options to edit and update various aspects of your account, such as:

a) Name: If you need to change or correct your name associated with your Uber account, click on “Edit name” and provide the necessary information.

b) Phone number: To update your phone number, click on “Edit phone number.” You’ll receive a verification code via text message to confirm that you own the new number.

c) Email address: Click on “Edit email” if you wish to change the email address associated with your account.

Make sure to save all changes before navigating away from these pages.

4. Update payment methods

Having an up-to-date payment method is crucial for smooth transactions within the platform. In Settings, scroll down and tap “Payment.” Here, you can add a new method or remove an existing one.

To add a new payment method:

– Tap “Add Payment Method.”

– Choose a credit card or other payment options available (such as PayPal).

– Enter relevant details and tap “Save.”

To remove or edit existing payment methods, simply tap on the method’s tab and follow the provided instructions.

5. Add/Update emergency contacts

In case of an emergency, having your contacts updated is vital. To add or update emergency contacts:

– Tap on “Emergency Contacts” within Settings.

– Choose “Edit” or “Add new emergency contact.”

– Input their name, relationship, and phone number.

– Tap “Save” to store the updated information.

6. Update home and work addresses

Updating home and work addresses guarantees a quicker booking process for your rides. From the main Settings menu:

– Tap on “Saved Places.”

– Click on “Home” or “Work” to update their respective addresses.

– Enter the address in the search bar and select the appropriate option.

– Tap “Save” to update your saved locations.

By following these simple steps, you’ll have successfully updated your Uber account, ensuring a hassle-free experience in your subsequent ride-hailings. Don’t forget to double-check all changes after updating, and remember to keep your Uber account information up-to-date for a smooth service experience.
