1. Choose a Simple Name: When selecting your puppy’s name, it’s best to pick something short and easy to pronounce. This will make it easier for your puppy to recognize and respond to its name.

2. Be Consistent: Use the same name consistently throughout the training process. Avoid using nicknames or variations of the name, as this may confuse the puppy.

3. Create Positive Associations: Say your puppy’s name frequently during pleasant situations like mealtime, playtime, and walk time so that they associate their own name with positive experiences.

4. Start in a Quiet Environment: Begin teaching your puppy its name in a calm, quiet place without distractions so they can focus on you and learn faster.

5. Use Treats Wisely: Reward your puppy by giving them treats when they respond to their name correctly. Gradually reduce the amount of treats as your puppy becomes more familiar with their name.

6. Call Your Puppy’s Name: Stand close to your puppy when beginning training sessions and calmly say their name. If the puppy ignores you, wait for them to become disinterested in something else before trying again.

7. Praise and Reward: When your puppy looks at you or comes toward you after hearing its name, immediately praise them verbally and offer a treat. This will reinforce your dog’s positive association with its name.

8. Repeat Regularly: Practice calling your puppy’s name several times each day at various intervals so that they become accustomed to responding quickly when called.

9. Slowly Increase Distractions: As your dog becomes more confident in responding to its name in a quiet environment, gradually introduce distractions such as toys, other people, or outside noises.

10. Be Patient and Positive: Remember that every dog learns at a different pace, so be patient and continue providing positive reinforcement for any progress made by offering praise and treats.

By following these 10 steps, you’ll be well on your way to teaching your puppy its name effectively and creating a strong bond between you and your new furry companion.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
