Instagram is an incredibly popular social media platform with millions of users worldwide. The ability to send messages on Instagram is one of its most popular features, but sometimes you may want to send a message without making noise. Thankfully, Instagram has a feature that allows you to send silent messages, so you can communicate without disturbing anyone around you.

Here’s how to send silent messages on Instagram:

Step 1: Open the Instagram app

Open the Instagram app on your phone and go to your direct messages.

Step 2: Choose your recipient

Choose the recipient you want to send the message to.

Step 3: Type your message

Type your message as usual. However, instead of pressing “send,” simply tap and hold the blue arrow to bring up the “Unsend Message” option.

Step 4: Press the arrow icon

Press the arrow icon and then the microphone icon to enable the voice message feature. Note that this icon will now have a slash over it to indicate that the feature is off.

Step 5: Record your message

Record your message by simply holding down the microphone icon. The sound wave will appear in blue to show that the feature is active.

Step 6: Send the message

Once you have recorded your message, lift your finger from the screen to send it. The message will be sent silently, which means that your recipient can listen to it without having to hear any notification sounds.

That’s it! You have successfully sent a silent message on Instagram.

Remember that the silent message feature is only available for voice messages, not text messages or photos. Also, you must have an active internet connection to use this feature.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
