Instagram has become a go-to platform for sharing daily life moments, art pieces, and marketing content. With over one billion monthly active users, it’s a widespread network where people worldwide share their interests, creativity, and perspectives. One of the features that make Instagram stories stand out is the filters. These filters use augmented reality technology to add digital objects or playful effects to your photos or videos. They can also change the color, saturation, contrast, or brightness of your content. In this article, we will guide you on how to search for filters on Instagram and add them to your story.

Step 1: Open Instagram

To start the process, make sure you have an Instagram account, open the app on your mobile device or tablet, and log in.

Step 2: Access the “Filter” Tab

To search for filters, tap your profile image or swipe right from your feed to access the camera mode. Next, snap a photo or video or select existing media from your gallery. This will open up the editing toolbox located on the top right corner with options, including filters, stickers, GIFs, and other editing tools. Tap the “face icon” on the bottom right side of the screen. A tab bearing different filters will appear.

Step 3: Browse Filters or Search for Filters by Name

To browse, swipe left or right through the filters or tap the “browse all” button at the far right side of the screen. Here, you can preview and select filters by tapping each option. To navigate to other filter categories, swipe left or right on the genres at the top, such as “Effects, Face Filters, Camera Styles, or Trending Now.”

If you know the name of the filter, type it in the search bar located at the top of the filter tab. Instagram search algorithms will display the filter options, including the name of the creator at the bottom.

Step 4: Save Filters You Like to Your Favorites

Suppose you have found filters you love, you can add them to your favorites. Tap the “Star icon” near the name of the filter, and the option will save to your Instagram favorites gallery for easy access during subsequent sessions.

Step 5: Add the Filter to Your Story

After selecting your preferred filter, tap the record button to take a photo or video. Adding a filter to your story is effortless. When you are satisfied with the media, tap the “Your Story” icon located at the bottom of the camera mode. Alternatively, you can choose “Close Friends” to post the story to your selected group of followers.

Filters are a fun way to add a personal touch to your content or convey your brand message creatively. By following the above steps, you can search for different filter options and choose ones that complement your content. Go ahead and test out different filters, and have fun creating engaging stories.
