If you frequently deal with foreign languages, you will find Google Translate a savior when it comes to breaking down linguistic barriers with its ability to translate written text or spoken words in seconds. And with the app’s image translation feature, you can easily translate any text within an image, such as a signboard or poster, by simply taking a photo of it. In fact, Google Translate’s camera function works directly from your phone’s camera, making real-time translations at your fingertips. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how you can scan and translate a picture in Google Translate:

Step 1: Download the Google Translate App

The first step in using this feature is to download the Google Translate app from the App Store or Google Play Store. Once installed, open the app and make sure you are connected to the internet.

Step 2: Select Languages

The second step is to select the languages you want to translate between. You can do this by tapping the language drop-down menus at the top of the app’s home screen. From there, select the languages you want to translate from and to.

Step 3: Open the Camera Function

After selecting your preferred languages, the next thing to do is open the camera function of Google Translate. To access this feature, tap on the camera icon located in the center of the app’s home screen.

Step 4: Frame the Image

To translate the text within the image, you need to frame it in the image window properly. You can do this by placing the camera lens over the portion of the image that you want to translate. The app will automatically detect the text within the image.

Step 5: Press the Camera Shutter Button

Once the area is correctly framed, it’s time to take a photo of the image. Press the camera shutter button, and the app will capture the image.

Step 6: Translate Text

The app will analyze the image and highlight the text within the image, indicating it has recognized and translated the text. Just tap the text highlighted in the image, and Google Translate will display the translated text in your preferred language.

Step 7: Save or Share the Translation

If you want to save, copy, or share the translated text, you can do so by tapping and holding onto the translated text. You will get several options to save or share the text via messaging or social media platforms.

In conclusion, Google Translate’s image translation feature is an excellent tool for those who deal with different languages frequently. It’s fast, easy to use and provides accurate translations. Now that you know how to scan and translate a picture in Google Translate, you can explore this feature and use it to help ease any linguistic barriers you may encounter in your day-to-day life.
