If you’re an avid book reader, chances are that you own a Kindle Paperwhite. Kindle Paperwhite is a popular e-reader that allows you to read digital books. However, like any other electronic device, it may stop working properly, become slow or unresponsive, and require a reset. Restarting your Kindle Paperwhite will help to get rid of any glitches and issues, allowing you to enjoy your favorite books without any trouble. In this article, we’ll be looking at the steps you can take to reset your Kindle Paperwhite.

Method 1: Soft Reset

A soft reset is usually the first step to take when your Kindle Paperwhite is unresponsive or frozen. This will not delete any of your data, books or bookmarks, and should only take a few minutes to complete.

To perform a soft reset on your Kindle Paperwhite, follow these steps:

1. Make sure your Kindle Paperwhite is charged or plug it into a power source.

2. Press and hold the power button for 40 seconds.

3. Release the power button and wait for about 1 minute while the device restarts.

Once the Kindle Paperwhite has restarted, you can check whether the issue has been resolved or not.

Method 2: Factory Reset

If the soft reset doesn’t resolve the issue, the next step is to do a factory reset. This option will erase all of your data, including your books and settings, and set your device back to its original factory settings. Before you undertake a factory reset, make sure that you’ve backed up all of your books and data. Once you’ve done that, here are the steps to follow:

1. Tap on the three bars on the top right corner of your Kindle Paperwhite’s home screen.

2. Select the “Settings” option from the drop-down menu.

3. Scroll down and select “Device Options.”

4. Select “Reset to Factory Defaults.”

5. Confirm that you want to go ahead with the factory reset by selecting “Yes.”

Once you’ve completed the factory reset, your Kindle Paperwhite will start up as if it’s a new device. You’ll need to register it again and set it up the way you want it. After that, you can download your books again and start reading.

Conclusion

Resetting your Kindle Paperwhite should help resolve most issues with the device. The methods mentioned above are easy to follow, and the soft reset will not erase any of your data, which makes it a safe option to start with. If you need to do a factory reset, make sure you back up your data before proceeding. Once you’ve reset your Kindle Paperwhite, you should be able to get back to reading your books without any problems.
