How to Measure Oven Size: 6 Steps

Introduction:

When shopping for a new oven, it’s important to know the size of the space it will need to fit into. Measuring your oven’s size accurately will ensure that your new appliance will fit perfectly into your kitchen without any unexpected surprises. This guide provides six steps to help you measure your oven size effectively.

1. Gather your tools:

Before you begin, assemble the necessary tools to measure your oven size accurately. You’ll need a tape measure, a notepad or piece of paper, and a pen or pencil to record measurements.

2. Measure the height:

Begin by measuring the height of your current oven from top to bottom, including any external features like protruding control knobs. Write down this measurement and label it as “height.”

3. Measure the width:

Next, measure the width of your oven from one side to the other side, including any external features such as control panels or door handles. Record this measurement and label it as “width.”

4. Measure the depth:

The depth of your oven is essential for determining how much interior space it can offer. To measure depth, open the oven door and place the tape measure at the very back of the interior part of the oven and extend it forward until it reaches the front edge near where the door hinges are located. Record this measurement and label it as “depth.”

5. Calculate cubic feet:

To determine your oven’s overall capacity in cubic feet, use this formula: (height x width x depth) / 1728. The resulting number represents an approximation of your oven’s total internal volume.

6. Confirm exterior dimensions:

After measuring interior dimensions accurately, double-check that exterior dimensions align with available space in your kitchen layout. Make sure there is enough clearance on all sides for hinges, handles, and easy access to nearby appliances.

Conclusion:

By taking accurate measurements before purchasing a new oven, you help ensure that the size and capacity meet your cooking needs and fit seamlessly into your kitchen’s design. With these six simple steps, you’ll be confident in your oven choice and ready to whet your culinary skills with ease.
