Android users have a considerable number of app options available on the Google Play Store. However, sometimes users may want to install apps that are not available on the Google Play Store or need to bypass compatibility restrictions. The process of installing Android apps manually or sideloading is not complicated, and it can sometimes be the only way to access certain apps that are otherwise unavailable or restricted.

Before we start, it is essential to understand that these methods are best used with caution. It is significant to ensure that you trust the source of the app before sideloading, to avoid downloading any malicious or harmful software. With that in mind, here’s how to manually install or sideload apps on Android.

Step 1: Enable Third-Party App Installations

By default, Android devices disable download and installation of apps outside the Google Play Store. You need to enable this feature to enable the installation of apps from unknown sources. To enable third-party app installations on Android:

– Go to the device settings

– Select the “Security” or “Privacy” in the settings menu

– Scroll down to find “Unknown sources”

– Tap the switch beside “Unknown sources” to turn it on

Step 2: Download the APK file

APK is the abbreviation for Android Package Kit. It is the file format used by the Android operating system for app installation. You can download APK files from sources other than the Google Play Store.

– Download the APK file from a trusted source like APKMirror or APKPure.

– Once the download completes, tap the downloaded file to start installation .apk file.

Step 3: Install the app

After tapping the downloaded file, you should see the installation screen where you can select to install the app. It would help if you agreed to the app permissions before the app starts to install.

Step 4: Install APK files via an app.

Another alternative to manually install apps on Android involves using a third-party app specifically designed for APK files installation, such as File Manager. Here are the steps to follow:

– Download and install the file manager app of your choice.

– Download the APK file for your desired app.

– Open the file manager app and navigate to the folder where the downloaded APK file is stored

– Tap the APK file to start the installation process.
