Jade Parcels, a delicious and delicate dim sum dish, is popular for its vibrant green color and enticing taste. The dish features a dough made of wheat starch filled with savory ingredients like minced meats and vegetables. This step-by-step guide will help you master the art of making Jade Parcels at home.

1. Gather ingredients: You will need wheat starch, boiling water, oil, salt, minced meat (pork or chicken), mushrooms, bean sprouts, green onions, ginger, garlic, oyster sauce, soy sauce, and cornstarch.

2. Prepare the dough: Mix the wheat starch with boiling water, salt, and a little oil in a bowl. Stir the mixture until it forms a soft dough.

3. Knead and rest the dough: Knead the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic. Allow it to rest for about 30 minutes.

4. Divide the dough: After resting, divide the dough into small portions for each Jade Parcel.

5. Roll out the parcels: Roll out each portion into thin circles using a rolling pin.

6. Prepare the filling: In a separate bowl, combine minced meat, finely chopped mushrooms, bean sprouts, green onions, grated ginger, minced garlic, oyster sauce, soy sauce, and cornstarch.

7. Fill the parcels: Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each dough circle.

8. Fold and pinch edges: Fold the edges of the dough over the filling to form a half-moon shape. Pinch along the curved edge to seal it well.

9. Steam the parcels: Bring water in a steamer to boil over high heat. Place Jade Parcels on a parchment-lined steamer rack or plate with enough space between them so they don’t stick together when cooking.

10. Steam for about 15 minutes: Cover the steamer and steam Jade Parcels for approximately 15 minutes until they are cooked through. The dough should be tender and translucent when done.

11. Check for doneness: Use a toothpick or small knife to poke the Jade Parcels. If it comes out clean, the parcels are cooked properly.

12. Transfer to a serving plate: Carefully remove the Jade Parcels from the steamer, using a spatula or tongs to avoid burning your fingers.

13. Prepare dipping sauce: In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and chili sauce (optional). Mix well.

14. Serve Jade Parcels: Enjoy your homemade Jade Parcels warm with dipping sauce on the side.

Now that you have mastered these 14 steps to making Jade Parcels, you can enjoy this delightful dish any time you desire! Impress family and friends alike with your culinary skills as you serve up these delicious and visually appealing jade-green parcels.
