How to Make an Origami Turtle

Origami, the art of paper folding, has been practiced for centuries and continues to be a popular pastime for people of all ages. One of the many beautiful and intricate creations you can make using this art form is an origami turtle. In this article, we will guide you through the steps to create your very own origami turtle.
Materials:
– A square sheet of origami paper (15×15 cm or 6×6 inches)
– A flat, clean surface for folding
Instructions:
1. Lay out your square sheet of origami paper with the colored side facing down on a flat surface.
2. Fold the paper in half diagonally, creating a triangle. Make sure to align the edges and corners neatly.
3. Unfold the triangle and fold it again along the opposite diagonal, forming another triangle.
4. Once more, unfold the triangle. You will now see an X-shaped crease in your paper.
5. Fold each corner of the square into the center of the X, aligning each edge with the creases.
6. Now fold both shorter edges towards each other into the centerline, making sure to keep them aligned.
7. Unfold only one side to make a small flap, then rotate it to one side 90 degrees.
8. Starting from the center point of your design, fold back only one side of the flap following the horizontal crease at its base.
9. Fold both ends inwards to meet each other at a central point near the bottom edge of your design.
10. Carefully push down on either end, allowing it to fold outwards on existing creases and begin shaping itself into a turtle shell.
11. Fold in both upper corners that extend from either side of your shell slightly towards its center to shape turtle’s front legs.
12. Flip over your design, revealing your turtle’s head and remaining flat part to create its tail.
13. Fold the tail section upwards by around two-thirds to bring it in line with the rest of the body.
14. Lastly, fold the tip of the turtle’s tail inwards to slightly round it off.
Congratulations! You have completed your origami turtle. Now, you can show off your new paper pet or gift it to a friend.
