How to Make a Spoiler (Text or Image) on Discord

Discord has become an increasingly popular platform for gaming communities, work groups, and friends to chat and share content online. With the vast amount of conversations and information shared, there are times when you might want to post a message or image that could be a spoiler for others. Fortunately, Discord has a spoiler feature that allows users to hide sensitive information or content that others might not want to see upfront. Here’s how you can make spoilers on Discord:
Making a Text Spoiler:
To create a spoiler tag in Discord, you simply need to use the right markdown code in your message. You can hide your text behind a spoiler tag in two ways:
1. Use the vertical bar character `|` which is called the pipe symbol. You place your text between two pairs of this symbol like so: `||Your text here||`. This will hide your text, and anyone wanting to read it will have to click on it to reveal the content.
2. The second way to add a spoiler tag is by using the /spoiler command before your text in the chat window: `/spoiler Your text here`. This serves the same purpose as the first method.
Making an Image Spoiler:
Spoiling images is just as easy as spoiling text on Discord. Before you upload an image, follow these steps:
1. Click on the upload button (the plus sign near where you type your messages).
2. Choose an image from your device.
3. Once you’ve selected an image, you’ll see an eye icon with the word “Spoiler?” next to it in the full-screen preview mode before sending it.
4. Click this “Spoiler?” checkbox, and this will mark your image as a spoiler.
5. Hit ‘Upload’, and your image will be posted with a spoiler tag over it.
By utilizing these simple features on Discord, you can ensure that you’re being considerate of other community members by not inadvertently revealing spoilers about games, movies, books, or other content that they may not have experienced yet. Happy chatting!
