If you’re looking for a simple and fun project that doesn’t require any sewing skills, making a no sew blanket is the perfect option. These cozy, DIY blankets make great gifts and are ideal for cuddling up on cold nights. In this article, we’ll walk you through the step-by-step process of making your own no sew blanket.

Materials You’ll Need:

1. Two pieces of fleece fabric (1.5 to 2 yards each, depending on the desired size)

2. Fabric scissors or a rotary cutter

3. Ruler or measuring tape

4. A flat working surface

Instructions:

1. Choose Your Fabric: To make a no sew blanket, start by choosing two coordinating fleece fabrics—one will serve as the top layer and the other as the bottom layer. Consider using contrasting colors or patterns to make your blanket more visually appealing.

2. Prepare Your Work Area: Clear off a large, flat surface like a table or floor to work on and lay the bottom layer of the fleece fabric down, making sure it is smoothed out with no wrinkles.

3. Align the Top Layer: Place the top layer of fleece fabric on top of the bottom layer and smooth it out, aligning the edges as closely as possible.

4. Trim Excess Material: Using your scissors or rotary cutter, trim off any excess fabric so that both layers are even and measure to your desired size.

5. Cut Out Corners: To create fringe around the edges of your blanket, first cut out 4-inch squares from each corner of both layers of fabric.

6. Cutting Fringe: Now you can begin cutting strips along all four sides of the fabric layers. Use your ruler or measuring tape to ensure each strip is approximately 1 inch wide and 4 inches deep, cutting through both layers at once.

7. Tying the Knots: Starting from one corner, take one strip from the top layer and one strip from the bottom layer and tie them together in a double knot. Repeat this step with each corresponding pair of strips along all four sides of the blanket.

8. Finishing Touches: To ensure a consistent look, make sure all the knots are tied tightly and uniformly. Trim any uneven fringe or excess fabric for a polished appearance.

And that’s it! You’ve now made your very own cozy, no sew blanket! Enjoy snuggling up with your new creation or gift it to a loved one to brighten their day. Remember that you can always get creative with colors, patterns, and sizes to make each no sew blanket uniquely yours.
