How to Locate All the Large Files on Your Windows PC
When you’re running out of storage space on your Windows PC, it might be time to locate and delete large files that are taking up unnecessary space. But finding large files can be a daunting task, especially if you’re not familiar with where they’re located on your computer. Here are some easy steps to locate all the large files on your Windows PC.
Step 1: Open File Explorer
To open File Explorer, press the Windows key and E key simultaneously. Alternatively, you can also find the File Explorer icon on your taskbar and click it to open.
Step 2: Use the Search Box
Once you’ve opened File Explorer, there is a search box located in the top right corner. Click on the search box and type “size:” into it. As soon as you type “size:” followed by any file size in your search criteria, File Explorer shows multiple options.
Step 3: Search Within Your Computer
After typing “size:” into the search bar, a drop-down menu will appear. You can choose from a range of file sizes from the options or you can type in a file size to search for specific files. Make sure the “This PC” option is selected, so it searches within your computer.
Step 4: Select a Size and Hit Enter
Once you’ve selected your desired file size, hit the enter key. File Explorer will now show all the files on your computer that match your search criteria. Large files will be displayed first.
Step 5: Sort the Results
To make it easier to find large files, sort the results by size. Click on the Size column in the File Explorer window. This will sort the files from largest to smallest or vice versa.
Step 6: Delete Unnecessary Files
Now that you have a list of all the large files on your computer, you can delete files that are taking up unnecessary space. This will free up storage space, making your computer run faster and smoother.
To delete a file, simply right-click on it and select the delete option. Be sure to double-check that the files you’re deleting are unnecessary before you do so, as some files may be important system files and should not be deleted.
